Injection Molding Technician / Night Shift Sun, Mon, Tues 6pm-6:30am and every other Wed 6pm-2:30am // $22-$27/hour plus 15% differential

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Injection Molding Technician to join our manufacturing team. This critical role ensures the efficient operation of injection molding machines and associated processes to maintain high product quality, productivity, and safety standards. The technician will be responsible for mold tool maintenance, injection press preventative maintenance, automation, changeovers, startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime. They will collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, operators, and lens coating line technicians to meet production schedules and deliver on customer expectations.
 
SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Product Quality and Productivity: 
    • Monitor and adjust molding processes to ensure consistent product quality and optimal cycle times.
    • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify conformance to specifications.
    • Maintain records of production and quality data for reporting and analysis.
  2. Mold Tool Maintenance and Injection Press Preventative Maintenance: 
    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mold tools to ensure proper function and longevity.
    • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on injection presses and associated equipment to maintain reliability and minimize downtime.
    • Safely complete mold changeovers and setups to meet production requirements.
    • Troubleshoot mold, tooling, and press-related issues to resolve problems quickly.
  3. Startup and Shutdown: 
    • Conduct safe and efficient startup and shutdown of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
    • Verify proper machine settings and materials for production runs.
  4. Automation and Equipment: 
    • Operate and maintain automated systems, robots, and auxiliary equipment integrated into the molding process.
    • Identify and resolve automation issues to maintain productivity.
  5. Safety and Compliance: 
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when working with heat, pressure, and heavy tooling.
    • Conduct regular safety checks and address potential hazards promptly.
  6. Collaboration and Communication: 
    • Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to implement process improvements.
    • Partner with operators and lens coating line technicians to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address issues and provide updates.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in plastics or injection molding is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an injection molding technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling, equipment, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving technical issues.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and familiarity with relevant safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • U.S. Government authorization required.
