The New Markets Affairs Director will report to the National Public Affairs Director to help that role seek real paths of engagement with key national, regional, and local groups promoting the environment, clean energy, clean tech, consumer protection, economic development, workforce training, and the value of public-private partnership.  The New Markets Affairs Director will help develop and manage programs that deepen Renovate America’s stakeholder engagement and contribute to Market Expansion efforts. This position will also work collaboratively with relevant departments to broaden awareness of Renovate America’s work and PACE as a public policy tool through events, conferences, and a variety of communications channels and strategies.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop state-specific public affairs campaign strategies to support Market Expansion efforts.
  • Identify, brief, and enlist the support of key allies.
  • Draft letters of support, identify op-ed signers, develop briefings and backgrounders for relevant groups.
  • Identify and manage opportunities for visibility such as presentations at conferences, events, and meetings.
  • Develop strategic engagement including phone-to-action campaigns through message development and garnering support.
  • Optimize Business Development relationships with manufacturers and contractors to support Market Expansion efforts.
  • Create presentations, talking points, backgrounders and other materials in support of ME.
  • Identify and manage strategic memberships, sponsorships, and events that support ME efforts.
  • Work with Digital Communications Manager to leverage relationships in social media and online thought leadership.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 8+ years’ experience in public affairs, government external relations, non-profit management, political or advocacy strategy or communications, or a related field.
  • Advanced writing and presentation skills and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in translating business objectives into thoughtful external outcomes.
  • Strong skills in people management and project management,
  • Experience managing, or as part of an effort to manage, in a crisis situation with public reputation implications.
  • Subject matter experience with energy, the environment, financial services, housing, consumer protection, tech-enabled marketplaces, or government is preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A sense of humor.
  • Willingness to travel.
