Digital Communications Manager

The Digital Communications Manager reports to the National Communications Director & Spokesperson and will be the go-to digital resource on the communications team. He or she will be experienced at creating written and visual digital content that delights and engages audiences. Working closely with colleagues in Marketing and other departments, the Digital Communications Manager will enhance Renovate America’s presence online and help position us as a leader in sustainable business, consumer protection, energy efficiency, and renewable energy home improvement. 


  • Plan and execute digital communications strategies that increase audience and engagement, and help define a distinct corporate brand for Renovate America.
  • Help create content for and engagement with digital communications channels including social media accounts and the news and resource pages of the website.  Monitor conversations, engage with our followers and expand audience, and seek opportunities for Renovate America to promote its leadership nationwide in expanding access to clean energy and to home improvement services they can trust.
  • Define specific audiences and, accordingly, create digital content including but not limited to graphics, blog posts and web articles.
  • Manage to completion workflow of projects including but not limited to press releases and other content on web properties
  • Collaborate with Marketing team on the monthly social media editorial calendar for overall company initiatives
  • Work with Renovate America’s leadership team to develop online profiles and thought leadership posting in various online channels.
  • Liaise with counterparts at partner organizations to strengthen ties and amplify messaging via coordinated SM outreach.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience across a number of digital platforms; proven record of communicating complex ideas in a straightforward way, building community and audience engagement, and mastery of content management systems.
  • Exceptional writing skills (news articles, blog posts, social media copy) and visual skills (graphics, edited photos and videos); proven record of generating engaging content that achieves the delicate balance between creativity, innovation and brand integrity.
  • Strong technology proficiency; fluency within the Adobe CreativeSuite (especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator). Experience using content management systems.
  • Analytical and creative thinker, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with precision and to report on progress; team skills required and an awareness of customer service requirements essential.
  • Experience working within an organization’s brand guidelines. Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and how they can be utilized as a way to build brand and increase engagement
  • Subject matter experience with energy, the environment, financial services, housing, consumer protection, tech-enabled marketplaces, or government is preferred.   
  • Experience using social media to increase earned media coverage is a plus.
