The Regional Director of Market Expansion is a cross-cutting role which will work in close coordination and collaboration with key business units to spearhead the development and execution of Renovate America’s strategy to expand into new markets within the Northwest region of the United States. In order to secure Renovate America’s access to new markets, the Regional Director will be responsible for developing relationships and partnerships with state and local elected officials and intergovernmental associations (e.g., state associations of counties, state associations of mayors, etc.), as well as state and local PACE advocates, stakeholder and interest groups, and thought leaders within the renewable energy, financial services, consumer protection, and housing sectors. 

This role will report directly to the Vice President of Market Expansion and Policy. Responsibilities may develop and adjust as Renovate America continues to grow, but the primary deliverables are as follows: 

 

Responsibilities
 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional business units as well as with market expansion team leaders to develop state specific analyses which take legislative, political, and operational factors into consideration to guide Renovate America’s evaluation of market opportunities and development of market entry strategies within Northwest states.
  • Participate in all phases of the market entry lifecycle, including identification and assessment of market opportunities, securing market access, and market implementation.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key state and local elected officials, PACE allies and relevant stakeholder and interest groups in order to secure Renovate America’s presence in new markets.
  • Hire and manage consultants and lobbyists as necessary to facilitate market entry.
  • Serve as a resource to the market implementation cycle.
  • Develop memoranda, presentations, and detailed analyses presented to senior management.
  • Ensure that internal stakeholders receive timely, accurate and comprehensive information in order to take advantage of policy and political opportunities, mitigate threats, and promote business interests within the Northwest region.


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of government affairs, legislative, and/or advocacy experience required
  • Experience within the financial services, renewable energy, or housing sectors preferred
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate successfully with RA leadership and key members of the market implementation team
  • Strong initiative and flexibility to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • This role will work remotely and will require extensive travel, within the Western region and to corporate HQ in San Diego
