Renaissance Benefits is hiring an experienced Accounting & Reporting Manager to join our growing team!

At Renaissance, the Accounting & Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the preparation, review and delivery of all reporting and financial statements using Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), monitoring of regulatory reporting requirements, and supporting the monthly GAAP financial close process. The Accounting & Reporting Manager will be self-motivated, well organized, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, detail oriented, and demonstrate leadership qualities.

What will this role entail?

  • Ensures company is compliant with local and federal laws and regulations specific to insurance compliance including required reporting. Communicates relevant updates and information provided by regulating entities to executive management.
  • Responsible for preparation and/or review and submission of quarterly and annual statutory reporting to the Indiana Department of Insurance Department (“DOI”) and to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”).
  • Communicates and collaborates with cross-functional teams and affiliates to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and other processes.
  • Assists with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Responsible for preparation/review and submission of other annual reports and filings to regulators, as needed.
  • Coordinates preparation and provision of all requested documentation to tax return preparers by established deadlines.
  • Assists with preparation for financial examinations performed by the Indiana Department of Insurance and respond to inquiry letters from State Regulators.
  • Assists with plan related audit requests and reviews workpapers during the annual financial statement audit.
  • Manages the monthly GAAP to STAT (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to Statutory) conversion adjustment process and reviews the monthly financial data, analyses and reconciliations.
  • Provide statistical reporting to regulatory authorities and respond to surveys, request for information and financial package requirements as needed for specific markets.
  • Serves as a financial reporting subject matter expert for company initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What must I possess to qualify?

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 6+ years of professional experience in accounting or regulatory reporting. Auditing background helpful but not required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory filing and GAAP reporting requirements within the life/disability/dental insurance sectors.
  • CPA Preferred.
  • Strong written, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to liaise with and influence senior subject matter experts
  • Ability to organize and present data in a meaningful way, including analyzing and summarizing detailed information from various sources
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills 
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change
  • Ability to work within a team and to collaborate with peers and leadership to create effective solutions to validation issues
  • Ability to create and manage detailed project plans including managing interdependencies
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with technology to implement automation and develop innovative solutions to drive process efficiencies
