ELectrical Supplier Quality Engineer
Write specifications and control documents for electrical supplier quality compliance.
Write inspection and test criteria for incoming inspection of PCBAs and electrical parts/assemblies.
Perform and/or oversee analysis effort for non-conforming electrical assemblies.
Interface with outside labs for defect analysis.
Participate with Failure Analysis engineers on an ongoing basis to discover supplier quality related issues.
Work with a cross-functional team to investigate, analyze, and correct supplier issues involving root cause/failure analysis; provide feedback to suppliers with SCAR, and reviewed supplier containment plan, corrective and preventive actions
Pursue corrective actions with electrical suppliers.
Track key performance indicators of PCB, PCBA, and electrical assembly supplier quality.
Review and approve design for manufacturability (DFM) reports for new product release.
Review supplier capabilities and specifications for compatibility with RED’s design requirements.
Convey supplier design rules to Engineering for inclusion in automated design rule checking.
Review supplier PCB and PCBA design rule check (DRC) reports, and fab/assembly recommendations for NPI. Assess design rule violations for risk—report risks, and recommend design changes.
Review supplier process flows and control plans prior to NPI release.
Manage New Supplier Qualifications – Site Audits, internal qualification requirements and approval for AVL acceptance.
Manage and maintain ongoing Supplier performance metrics – Lot Acceptance, SCAR’s, Continuous Improvement actions and Supplier Scorecards. Lead Quality inputs for weekly, monthly, and Quarterly Business review communications.
Participate in MRB. Review non-conforming material with MRB team to give material disposition. Address quality issues back to supplier with corrective actions.
BS or equivalent work experience. BS in EE preferred.
Preferred 3-5 years work experience in Supplier Quality.
Knowledge of semiconductor processing and technology. Image Sensing knowledge strongly preferred.
ASQ Certifications: CQE preferred
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt a plus
~15% of travel domestic and international
Understanding of the PCB fabrication process (techniques, laminate materials, plating process, drilling, etc.). Must have a grasp of process limitations and issues encountered in rigid PCB, flex, and rigid/flex fabrication.
Understanding of the PCB assembly process (pick and place, solder flow, rework, automated optical inspection, etc.). Must have a grasp of the limitations and issues encountered in automated and manual PCB assembly and soldering.
Understanding of PCB laboratory failure analysis techniques and their application (i.e. SEM, dye-and-pry, cross sectioning, etc.) sufficient to interpret results and relate to PCB fabrication and PCB assembly issues for communication to suppliers.
Familiarity with industry standard, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-6012, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/IPC-7721. PCBA inspection knowledge sufficient to interpret inspection results and relate to possible causes in fab/assembly.
