Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) - Expert

 

What you will be doing:

 

The Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) is the security expert for the High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure and the custom software deployed on this fabric.  The ISSE works with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), Program Management, technical and client team to assure compliance with policies and plan successful deliveries that meet the cyber framework. The ISSE is a key team member to forecast security related business requirement, plan to meet assessment requirements, address vulnerabilities, apprise of critical cyber issues, and consult on meeting security objectives.

The ISSE is the intermediary and interface to the client’s ISSM and Cyber teams, communicating and coordinating with these teams on behalf of the program and office, then educating the office of requirements and advisement as to best practices to assure compliance.

 

What you need:

  • Works closely with the Information System Security Management staff.
  • Knowledgeable of ICD-503 and other security standards.
  • Has hands on experience with the clients accreditation systems and process.
  • Works with the Program Management, technical and government teams to review cyber disposition and consult on remediation of vulnerabilities.
  • Performs and reviews Security Scans on program Networks, Hardware, Operating Systems, Applications, and Databases.
  • Creates quarterly Vulnerability Reports based on results of scans and implements mitigation plans.
  • Creates and tests Contingency Plans; maintains Disaster Recovery reports.
  • Prepares and maintains security related documentation for HPC networks.
  • Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Develops System Security Plans (SSPs) for new systems and maintains current SSPs.
  • Implements security requirements and ensures compliance with customer’s Information System Security Manager (ISSM) approved SSPs for a network.
  • Establishes/uses access control mechanisms; defines/configures firewall settings; conducts intrusion detection/prevention; conducts vulnerability scanning; conducts anti-virus management; and conducts incidence response actions in accordance with customer security policies.
  • Has a proven track record working with security system customers (i.e., providers of technologies being assessed), moving system through the accreditation processes, and delivering security artifacts.
  • Comfortable briefing and leading subject matter meetings.

 

Clearance:
Active TS/SCI with an appropriate polygraph is required to be considered for this role
