Playground Games is looking for a Character Artist to join our talented Fable team here in Leamington Spa.

ABOUT US:

We are a premier Xbox Game Studio, crafting genre-defining games that delight players with their accessibility, visual allure, and pure fun. Our diverse and passionate team is currently working on the exciting reboot of the much-adored Fable franchise.

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

As a Character Artist at Playground Games, you'll focus on creating realistic characters that resonate with our players.

Your work will involve closely collaborating with concept artists, designers, animators, and the narrative team to ensure each character fits seamlessly into our game world and contributes to the overall player experience.

This role is based in our state-of-the-art studio in Leamington Spa, with a hybrid work model in place. We offer relocation assistance if needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • Craft high-quality 3D character models, drawing inspiration from concept art and real-world references.
  • Collaborate with the Art Director to maintain consistency across all character designs.
  • Work alongside the animation team, ensuring character models are rigged and deform correctly for animation.
  • Engage in creative discussions surrounding characters and their design.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING: 

  • Experience in 3D modeling, texturing, and shading, focusing on character design. Knowledge of human anatomy, clothing, and hair.
  • Familiarity with industry software like Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter, and game engines like Unreal and Unity. A compelling portfolio showcasing your character art skills.
  • A love for gaming and a desire to create compelling characters.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, address challenges proactively, and a drive for continuous learning and professional development.
