Outreach Phlebotomist (Part Time- Days)

Alverno's innovative, state of the art laboratory is the only free-standing, local reference lab in our service area. Our network includes 26 hospitals and multiple physician offices. We are a full service; community based medical laboratory performing over 750 different tests in both clinical and anatomic pathology to partner hospitals and outreach clients. Alverno offers the convenience and customer service of a local laboratory with the sophistication of a large reference laboratory. Established in Hammond, Indiana, Alverno is a joint venture of Franciscan Alliance and Presence Health.
This individual is responsible for performing a variety of clerical, administrative and technical functions including phlebotomy, data entry of test requests and results, preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the reference laboratory, processing reference lab send-outs and operation of the mechanical sorting instruments ( PSD and PAM units at Central laboratory), maintenance of supplies for the department and other duties as assigned. (Must perform three of the four major categories listed previously). In remote facilities, this individual may also perform limited waived and moderate complexity tests as authorized by the Director, act as a driver as required and will participate in the on-call rotation if applicable.
Shift: Days, Weekends
_High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
_Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
_Phlebotomy certification preferred.
_A background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
_Must possess a valid driver's license. Position requires the use of personal vehicle to travel to various locations served in the Outreach arena. Demographic area encompasses north of Chicago and Chicagoland area. _This position requires the following: excellent customer service skills, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to cope with varied levels of workload and multiple tasks and the ability to adapt to changes quickly.
