At Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, we offer primary care and 24/7 emergency services for dogs, cats, horses, and some small ruminants. We are a large multi-departmental hospital with 20 Doctors and 85 Support Staff Members.  Our integrative medicine department provides rehabilitation services for small animals and acupuncture and chiropractic for both large and small animals. We also serve as the primary specialty referral center for horses in the region with both board-certified internal medicine and surgery specialists. We are proud to be AAHA certified. 
Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital has been serving Snohomish and surrounding areas since 1963, offering extensive resources to the veterinary community of the Pacific Northwest.    
 
Job Purpose:
 
In conjunction with the Practice Manager (PM), the Hospital Staff Manager (HSM) is to fulfill the leadership role as an “owner” of the hospital’s success.As such, the HSM will be accountable for significant results across many areas of hospital performance and growth including productivity, staff training and performance, and client satisfaction. 
  • The HSM must be active, visible, and involved with the staff and clientson a daily basis. 
  • In conjunction with the PM, the HSM must assist in managing the financial health and growth of the hospital and gain a deepunderstanding of the hospitals financial status while using it as a tool to monitor, measure, and improve performance. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of daily clinical and customer service operations in the hospital. 
  • Work closely with the PM, department leads, and People Operations to support employee coaching and development, efficient staffing, and excellence in customer service. 
  • Monitor and manage labor costs pursuant to budget. 
  • In conjunction with the PM, analyze, forecast, make recommendations, and implement solutions regarding labor costs, budgeting, and AR/AP. 
  • Streamline andestablish clinical operations protocols for staff/client interactions.  
  • Demonstrate and reinforce the highest level of client service. Function as client liaison when necessary,managing client relationships. 
  • Participate in industry and community activities. 
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, benefits, and contracts. 
  • Development and implementation of on-boarding, orientation, and employee life cycle training systems in conjunction with the department leads. 
  • Acts as a champion for change and servant leader by identifying, sharing, modeling, and promoting best practices. 
  • Plan and lead effective employee meetings. 
  • Provide oversight of hiring, training, and development of clinical-related staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy. Consults with the PM and People Ops partner as appropriate. Directly responsible for leading department leads and indirectly responsible for all employees within their location.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role 
  • Level 3 LVT or VA (highly skilled)
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities 
    • Effective decision-making skills 
    • Large Animal or Mixed Practice experience is a plus*

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a salary rate of $67,725 annually. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
