Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist (Relief) - Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency
Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency is seeking a board certified or residency trained internist to join our beautiful emergency and specialty hospital in the expanding area of Elk Grove Village, Illinois. This position is a LOCUM position, and your assistance would only be required one week per month. Although the days are flexible, a minimum of three days per week is requested. We would also entertain multiple individuals to share the position, if the entire seventeen month commitment is not desired or feasible - the dates are currently known and could be provided upon inquiry. The position would involve primarily outpatient appointments, transfers from our emergency department, and in house consultations for our other specialty departments. Abdominal ultrasound experience is preferred.
The right individual would join our team of emergency clinicians who provide twenty-four hour emergency coverage seven days a week, as well as, our medical oncologist and part-time surgeon. Doctors are supported by an amazing group of dedicated technicians, client care coordinators, and management team with many years of veterinary medicine experience. Consultation with the current internal medicine specialist (who would be traveling during this week) is also available.
Our hospital is an 8,000 square foot facility, recently remodeled. Our facilities our equipped with an on-site in-house laboratories, allowing for immediate blood gas analysis (Abaxis i-STAT), CBC, biochemical, and coagulation analyses to be performed. Ancillary laboratory diagnostics also include in house cortisol and bile acids. Digital radiography, ultrasonography, and a 16 slice Toshiba CT scan are located onsite and facilitate a complete patient evaluation. A Snyder oxygen cage, doppler blood pressure monitoring, and ECG monitoring are also available to facilitate patient care. Our hospital is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week with support staff and an emergency clinician. Our specialty equipment includes both flexible and rigid endoscopy, allowing for the following to be performed: Esophagoscopy, Gastroscopy, Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, Colonoscopy, Rhinoscopy, and Cystoscopy. We are also currently recruiting for additional services to be added, including but not limited to: cardiology, neurology, radiology, and additional surgical services.
Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty and Emergency has joined forces with Pathway to support our clinicians while allowing our hospital to maintain our own individual culture and to practice medicine that makes sense for our clinicians and patients. Together as a team, our doctors decide how we practice and are welcome to develop and/or update medical protocols for our hospital.
Compensation would include reimbursement for all licensing fees (state of IL licensure, state of IL controlled substance license, and DEA license are required), traveling expenses, and a generous per diem.
