Hospital Director of Operations

Medical Leadership Culver City, California

Description

Position at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital - Los Angeles

Veterinary Hospital Director of Operations
ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital Los Angeles

Wanted: An operational leader with a big vision who is happy to park on a roof, above a leafy, art-filled courtyard!
At ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital – Los Angeles, we pat ourselves on the back for having one of the leading Specialty and 24x7 ER Animal Hospitals in Southern California. Now we need a Hospital Director of Operations with the experience, drive, and vision to validate our claim.
That’s it. That’s the mission.
With approximately 40 doctors, 1 Medical Director, over 200 team members comprised of technicians, client care and admin staff that work across 11 medical departments. We care for thousands of patients each year, this role calls for a rare bird with big wings. One who is quick on their feet, affable, small on ego, finds pleasure in serving others, and who knows the difference between leadership and management – yet, is good at both.
Here are a few things about us (and you) to pique your interest:
1. Influence: This individual will run the largest multispecialty hospital in Thrive Pet Healthcare. This includes its financial wellbeing. Understandably good business acumen with skills and experience in business planning, revenue management and disciplined reporting are needed. If this gets you rearing to go in the morning, you’re off to a good start.
2. People: Nothing we do can be done without happy, well-trained, productive staff who enjoy doing what needs to be done. This is why leadership and mentorship experience are a must. Recruiting, organizational development, working closely with People Operations (HR), and providing employee support, coaching, correction, and development should be high on your agenda. BTW: If we’re missing something with which you have had experience, we’re all ears.
3. Support: Speaking of ears, we’ll give you ours. Not only that, from day one, we’ll give you a hand. While you’ll be reporting to our Senior Vice President, it’s better to say you’ll collaborate closely! Likewise, not only will you have a strong onsite support team, but you’ll also have direct access to extended managerial resources and guidance. Need input from People Ops (HR), Legal and Regulatory, Marketing and Medical Directors, etc.? You’ve got it.
4. Perks: Our People Ops leaders point out that we offer one of best benefits packages in the veterinary industry. For example, the salary range for this role is $150,000–$170,000 per year + up to $5K bonus per quarter based upon growth and profitability of this hospital. Plus, there’s health, life, vision, dental, PTO, paid holidays, 401(k), paid parental leave, and possible relocation assistance.
Qualifications:
  • The Hospital Director of Operations should ideally possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospital Administration, or a CVPM certification - a Master’s degree in Business or Hospital Administration is preferred
  • 5+ years of hospital operations experience in a large veterinary hospital setting - Specialty/ER experience is a strong plus
  • Experience operating a hospital in a hands-on manner - the Director will be in hospital 5 days/week
  • Experience and familiarity with HR and labor laws
At Thrive Pet Healthcare, we celebrate and embrace the uniqueness and diversity of all of our team members, pet parents, and pets. We strive to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture where all team members belong and feel empowered.
