The Safety Officer has authority for and is responsible for site compliance with safety and health requirements, federal, state and OSHA regulations and all aspects of the site Safety Program, including but not limited to all aspects of the production facilities, storage of pipe, and loading of pipe for delivery. Careful attention to be given to fall protection; health hazard recognition and analyses; selecting, using and maintaining PPE; safe use of machinery; the emergency response plan; spill containment; and overall safe work practices. Perform a daily equipment, safety and health inspection and document. This list is not all inclusive.

  • Conduct on-site training and the day-to-day on-site implementation and enforcement;
  • Tour the facility as needed to ensure and audit the effectiveness of the Safety Program.
  • Stop work if unacceptable health and safety conditions exist, and take necessary actions to re-establish and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Consult with and coordinate any modifications to the Safety Managers.
  • Assist in accident investigations and prepare accident reports.
  • In coordination with site Safety Managers, recommend and oversee implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
  • Evaluate and Recommend changes to engineering controls, work practices, and PPE.
  • Additional Duties may be assigned by the Safety Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Render first aid when applicable.
  • Safely operate a Polaris and shuttle employees safely to various areas.
  • Advise company management of conditions that could lead to non-compliance or unsafe working conditions.
  • Respond to, render aid, participate in investigations, prepare and follow-up on all safety and health and environmental mishaps, including making reports to management.
  • Perform any other task that may be assigned by the Safety Manager.

Qualifications:

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Fire Service experience preferred (Professional, Retired, Volunteer), Combat Medic or Corpsman (Active or Inactive)
  • Ability to interact with the public and support a broad spectrum of personnel both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to enhance safety, improve quality, reduce cost and add value to the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and self-driven a must.
  • Ability to handle several situations at once with poise and confidence.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued Driver’s License.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Emergency Medical Technician preferred, Emergency Medical Responder, Combat Medic
  • IFSTA approved courses (preferred)
