We are seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to design, develop, and maintain database infrastructure that supports critical reporting and operational applications across Ontario’s healthcare system.
In this role, you will contribute to database architecture, optimize performance, ensure data integrity and security, and support business intelligence and reporting solutions. You will also play a key role in maintaining SQL Server environments, troubleshooting issues, and enabling accurate, timely reporting to healthcare partners and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
Database Development
- Design and implement database infrastructure to support reporting solutions and web-based applications
- Proficiency in SQL/MySQL, Database design, Data Modelling, Normalization, Performance Tuning, Data Security, Backup and Recovery and Transaction Management.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL/MySQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects
- Create and maintain database documentation, including schema definitions and design standards
- Monitor and tune database performance using appropriate tools and best practices
- Ensure efficient database design to support scalability, reliability, and performance
Database Administration
- Perform routine maintenance and administration of Microsoft SQL Server/MYSQL environments
- Manage user access, permissions, and security controls to protect data integrity and confidentiality
- Develop and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to maintain stability and efficiency
- Support installation, configuration, and upgrades of database environments (SQL/MySQL)
System Support & Collaboration
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in collaboration with IT and internal teams
- Support BI Developers and reporting teams with database requirements and optimization
- Participate in application meetings and contribute to technical discussions and solutions
- Assist with internal and external database-related projects and initiatives
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5–6 years of experience in database development, database administration, or related roles
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning and optimization
- Advanced proficiency in SQL development, including stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with data warehousing and business intelligence environments
- Experience with Scripting Languages, No SQL databases, Cloud services, Version Control, ETL Process, Data warehousing, API Integration, Agile Methodologies and Documentation Skills.
- Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools such as SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI
- Experience implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Knowledge of database security best practices and data governance principles
- Experience in healthcare, aviation, or other regulated environments is considered an asset
