The Data Architect designs, develops, implements, deploys, and manages Ornge’s Enterprise Data Architecture, and collaborates with internal/external partners across business and technology domains that produce and consume data to optimize data management, integration, alignment with business goals, and adherence to governance strategies.

 

The successful incumbent is a master data manipulator - a data architect, engineer and modeller who brings strong business acumen and is solutions focused. Recruitment Timelines:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Data Strategy Develops, implements, and maintains Enterprise Data Architecture that aligns with Enterprise Data Strategy and supports Ornge’s strategical initiatives.
  • Data Integration Architects high-quality data solutions/pipelines based on technical principles that utilize internal and external data, which is imported, stored, processed/transformed, cleansed, and integrated into existing Enterprise Data Architecture.
  • Data Governance Ensures data architecture supports strong Data Governance practices, including data quality, security, compliance, and cohesive data definitions across organization.
  • Data Modeling - Designs enterprise-wide conceptual/logical models for operational and analytical systems, ensuring consistency, scalability, agility, and correctness.
  • Collaboration - Collaborates with internal and external partners as SME on organizational data curation requirements, data integration capabilities, data conceptualization, data-quality initiatives, and data stewardship.
  • Drives InnovationFosters innovation, optimization, and development of data architectural methodologies, emerging technologies, tools, platforms, and process/pipeline solutions that support Ornge's Enterprise Data Architecture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management or Big Data and Analytics
  • 7-9 years of related experience in a similar role with a focus on designing, developing, implementing, deploying, and managing an organization’s Enterprise Data Architecture. Cloud solutions and cloud architecture experience is required.
  • Experience with MS Fabric, Azure Cloud Data Architecture/Framework and Cloud Analytics Services.
  • Advanced technical proficiency with transformations and loading of internal/external data from various source like files, JSON, XML, noSQL, SQL databases, as well as custom vendor APIs.
  • Database administration (DBA) skills.
  • Data transformation skills with an in-depth knowledge of ETL/ELT and Dataflows/Data-Pipelines/SSIS/ Power-Automate.
  • Understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data processing, fundamental data structures, and algorithms.
  • Advanced understanding of Enterprise Data Architecture platforms, concepts, patterns, and standards.
  • Ability to conceptualize complex ideas into the key artifacts required to develop data architectures that are consistent with organizational enterprise architectural standards and technology strategy.
  • Ability to think from various points of view (including end-user, architecture, development, and tester) in terms of access to data, application usability, performance, configuration, data governance, and data-quality stewardship.
  • Skills in data-architecting measures, source system mapping, reporting definitions/algorithms/counting methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as Python/R.
  • Knowledge in architecting, engineering, designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and datamining.
  • Experience with implementing business vision, strategy, roadmaps, governance, and quality methods/practices.
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), data governance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
