About the Department

Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing revenue-generating partnerships from corporate and community-based organizations and managing those relationships. Partnerships vary from year-round engagement to specific races and events. They work closely with all of NYRR’s departments to develop programs that maximize revenue opportunities and ensure NYRR‘s partners’ objectives are being met. Licensing & Merchandising provides merchandising services to every area of the company. Internal merchandising services include managing the development of all weekly race premiums, premiums for programs such as YCS, development and distribution of staff clothing and any all product needs for the organization.

Runner Products supports the training, racing and community experience of our runners - through classes, seminars and customized training programs. The team also provides experiences to enhance the runner's engagement with the running community and their experience at NYRR events, whether it is through our membership program, race photography or ticketed events. The Runner Services team is the information source for our runner, serving for a conduit of information and an advocate for NYRR's runner-first philosophy. NYRR’s Charity Programs include Champion’s Circle and over 350 charities who partner with NYRR to raise over $30 million cumulatively through volunteers running the marathon each fall.

 

About the Position

Part-Time Run Center Assistant Manager oversees a team of part-time Run Center Representatives. Responsibilities include management of a group of part-time Run Center Representatives who provide customer care during bib distribution and Run Center events. The Assistant Manager will assist the Run Center Manager in coordinating with our partner New Balance, the NYRR Programming Manager and all event leads in optimizing the use of space to provide runners with experiences that reflect NYRR’s mission to help and inspire people through running. Management tasks include facilitating race premium and t-shirt distribution, taking inventory, managing the Run Center traffic during programs and events, team development, and handling escalated situations. The Part-Time Assistant Manager will also be responsible for optimizing communication among the Run Center team by developing effective tools for dispensing NYRR updates and Run Center information.

  

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties): 

  • Manage a team of Run Center Representatives and create positive runner interactions
  • Supervise opening and closing duties
  • Set the standard for best-in-class customer service through leading by example and holding the team accountable
  • Report on team performance and provide development opportunities through team projects
  • Meet with management staff bi-weekly to discuss weekly events, team projects, and upcoming race needs
  • Oversee and track race premium distribution and inventory
  • Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments
  • Supervise a small team of Run Center Representatives on long term projects
  • Optimize team efficiency by creating and maintaining policies and best practices
  • Direct the flow of Run Center traffic and oversee the coordination of activities, events, and volunteers
  • Work closely with the Run Center Manager to develop the Run Center Team
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, service and integrity.
  • Support bib (race number) and race premium (souvenir) distribution at the Run Center during race weeks
  • Position will be up to 25 hours per week

 Job Requirements: 

Experience:

  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience in fitness industry or retail a plus 

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Multi-lingual skills a plus
