About NYRR

New York Road Runners was founded in 1958 when a small group of passionate runners vowed to bring running to the people and has grown from a local running club to the world’s premier community running organization.  NYRR’s mission is to empower everyone, of all ages and abilities—beginners and competitive athletes, the young and the elderly, adult professionals and underserved schoolchildren—to improve their health and well-being through the power of running and fitness.

Position Description

About the Department
Although best known for the Marathon and our weekly races throughout New York City, serving children and communities through running is central to NYRR's mission. What began in 1998 with one site and 15 children has blossomed into a comprehensive and dynamic youth running program which impacts more than 267,000 children in New York City, and across the United States. Team for Kids is the primary fundraising vehicle for NYRR's youth running programs. Our team is comprised of adult runners who receive guaranteed entry into 11 premier endurance running events while committing to fundraise in support of our youth programs.

About the Position
The position of a Team for Kids Training Coach is a part-time, contracted, seasonal position. We have openings for coaches from June through November 2020, with most hours falling on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Most workouts take place in New York City's Central Park. Some weekend long runs will be conducted outside of the city in the Tri-State area. Coaches must be available to get to the training locations and start times promptly. Our coaches are a tremendously important part of our overall fundraising and member-service strategies, and they provide planning and training services, encouragement, and race-day support to our runners. We look forward to receiving your application!
