About the Department

New York Road Runner’s Brand Marketing and Communications is charged with managing the organizations creative services, editorial, advertising, and digital operations. The team’s efforts build upon NYRR’s recent brand initiative and Run for Life platform as the organization seeks to tell the bigger NYRR story of huge positive impact; our ongoing focus on broadening our engagement with runners of all types; our efforts to strengthen our alignment with, and support of, our corporate partners; and our opportunity to unlock the power of our community in supporting our youth- and cause-related efforts. 

About the Position

New York Road Runners seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, and organized individual to help support the Brand Marketing and Communication department. This position will allow for the unique opportunity to work the department’s different entities in a fast-paced environment. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the social media team in the following ways:
    • Managing the department’s social media calendar
    • Scheduling and labeling social media posts
    • Reporting on social media metrics
    • Crafting copy for social media posts
    • Capturing photo/video for social media posts
  • Research news articles for social media content
  • Monitor social media accounts for potential retweet/reshare
  • Manage social media contests
  • Attend events to capture and post social media content
  • Interact regularly with designated cross-functional teams
  • Participates in departmental meetings
  • Administrative and other duties as assigned 

Internship Qualifications: 

  • Completed a minimum of two years in an accredited four-year college degree program
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Must be a self-initiator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • A thorough knowledge of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, and are able to identify sharable social media content
  • You have an eye for great photography and a knack for writing pithy, call-to-action copy that’s appropriate for specific social media channels
