Membership Representative

Membership & Business Development Bronx, New York


Position Summary:
The Membership Representative will answer member customer service inquiries and general Garden information by phone and email in a friendly and professional manner. Supports an effective office environment and provides support to the department management team.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
  • By phone and email, handle incoming membership inquiries related to Membership benefits; Garden programming information, hours, and directions; transfer calls to appropriate departments as necessary
  • Update Members' biographical information in databases Raiser's Edge and Siriusware as needed
  • Perform general administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
  • Supports onsite member programming, as needed
  • Conduct all transactions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the New York Botanical Garden.
Qualifications:
  • Prior office, customer service experience, college level work preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Moderate knowledge of computers, typing, and/or data entry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Prolonged sitting in an office environment
  • Prolonged standing when supporting onsite programs/events as assigned
Baseline Work Schedule: 
Two-week training & onboarding period: Wednesday through Friday, 9am-5pm
Regular Schedule: Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8
a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pay Rate: $19/hr
