MTS - Backend Engineer (Manageability- Control Plane)

Nutanix is disrupting the multi-billion dollar virtualization market by pioneering the first hybrid cloud platform that can incrementally scale out to manage petabytes of data, while running tens of thousands of virtual machines. This brings about new challenges in user interface design. If you are up to the challenge and would like to be a part of a team that makes history, then this job might be for you.


  • Design and develop features for the Nutanix manageability platform that interacts with Nutanix Core Services. 
  • Develop reliable, efficient high performance and scalable manageability software.
  • Design and Implement robust APIs to be used by the front-end. 
  • Design and implement algorithms for storage provisioning.
  • Design and develop software for managing virtual infrastructure. 
  • Create effective unit and integration tests.   
  • Writing functional specifications, implementing features in Python or Java using Spring Framework on Linux platform. 
  • Implement robust mechanisms to manage distributed servers from manageability platform.
  • Implementing REST APIs to manage hybrid cloud platform functionality to front-end clients. 
  • Develop new modes of interacting with the Nutanix cluster (E.g. plugins for ESX, OpenStack REST api, etc). 
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers on complex Manageability projects.
  • Ability to write scripts and tools for development and debugging.



  • Love of programming.
  • Solid Python experience required.
  • Experience with web servers and REST APIs a PLUS.
  • Experience/understanding of scalable and distributed systems.
  • Experience in working in linux environment.
  • Knowledge of virtualization (VMWare, KVM, or Hyper-V) and storage a plus.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
