Cloud Data Center Network Operations Engineer


Nutanix is disrupting the multi-billion dollar Enterprise Cloud market by pioneering the first hyperconverged compute & storage virtualization appliance that can incrementally scale out to manage petabytes of data while running tens of thousands of virtual machines.


We are looking for a hands-on technical architect to lead a Cloud Infrastructure Operations team. The Cloud Infrastructure Operations team is responsible for building and operating the infrastructure and data centers that powers Nutanix Xi Cloud Platforms worldwide. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building and supporting large, scalable infrastructure, and is a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, learner, and a fantastic collaborator.

Role & Responsibilities

Support and operate a 24/7 x 365 high-performance, highly available networking and virtualized compute infrastructure.

Develop and maintain documentation and technical procedures (Installation, Configuration, Run books) and are contributing to the maintenance of operational standards.

Develop scripts and automation for infrastructure services and system administration tasks where possible

Hands-on support for developing a monitoring platform for both infrastructure and services to proactively address the operational issues for all customer facing  assets.

Partner with engineering teams and rest of operations teams to ensure smooth deployment of new designs, architectures.  and customer facing services.

Experience and Skills:

Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Engineering or related field

8-10 years in data center and Cloud Operations (SaaS or PaaS) supporting networking and compute equipment for large complex global infrastructure spanning across multiple data centers

Experienced with DevOps & ITIL approach in running a superior service operations & delivery function.

Expertise in one or more Infrastructure automation technology(automating hosts, network provisioning)

Experience with Infrastructure Capacity Planning.

Prior experience in monitoring, operating and troubleshooting a production network.  Knowledge in TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, L3VPN, SSL, application load balancing and understanding of network cabling specifications.

Prior Experience developing and/or supporting core Infrastructure computing services (Domain Controller, DNS, Virtualization, VMware, Storage, Backup/Recovery, Data Security, Data Replication & monitoring.

Knowledge of Containerization concepts, experience with clustering and scheduling suites such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, DCOS

Expert level Hypervisor Experience: VMware, KVM, Hyper-V

Hand on Linux and Windows administration experience

Experience with various DC monitoring tools such as Nagios and logging solutions such as Splunk, ELK

Demonstrable time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
