Position: Sr. Product Engineer

Job Description:

The Product Engineer will work closely with engineering teams to qualify and release products and components to productionIn addition, they will work closely with contract manufacturers to enable high volume production of the product(s).  During NPI, they will ensure products are ready for production from a DFM, reliability and serviceability perspective, create and maintain bill of materials, product assembly instructions and create upgrade instructions for RMA.  They will monitor product yields and work to eliminate yield detractors and troubleshoot issues as needed. 


  • Assist with product validation to ensure that the final product meets all requirements before production release.
  • Perform product DFx (Manufacturability, Assembly, Serviceability) and work with hardware team and vendors to resolve.
  • Structure Bill of Materials and develop assembly instructions.
  • Generate Engineering Change Orders to maintain current build configuration.
  • Transfer product-related information to contract manufacturers and ensure production readiness.
  • Assists contract manufacturers in creating detailed work instructions.
  • Continuously pursue/find opportunities to reduce manufacturing cost and variation.
  • Determine root cause of yield detractors and initiate corrective action.
  • Participate in evaluation/selection of contract manufacturers and factory audits.
  • Track BOM and assembly drawings to ensure contract manufacturers are building to the correct revision level and contract manufacturers’ documentation matches released documentation.
  • Utilize information from field-reported issues to reproduce them in-house, investigate and collect data to drive long term product improvements.
  • Make recommendations for improving product reliability; work cross functionally to incorporate reliability and serviceability in design.
  • Provide technical guidance on issues ranging from field and factory failures to supplier quality.
  • Coach and train junior team members and new hires.
  • Develop processes and procedures to optimize NPI product qualification and release.


  • BSEE with 7+ years of experience in system development and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of x86 servers.
  • Good understanding of standard server industry tests and validation methods.
  • Some experience with ODM and JDM development models.
  • Hands-on experience in RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) for computer hardware systems.
  • Experience in driving reliability improvements at system and sub-system level.
  • Thorough understanding of world-class manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Experience with PLM systems such as Arena or Agile.
  • Knowledge of common configuration management practices.
  • Self-starter with ability to multi-task across multiple priorities.
  • Experience with systematic approach to hardware debug.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.
