Job Description:

The Platform QA Engineer will work closely with other engineers in a cross-functional team to test Nutanix software features and supported hypervisors on a wide range of server platform configurations and hardware components.  This key role will help Nutanix quickly deliver new platform and hardware component offerings that meet our customers' requirements and high quality expectations.  The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in both hardware and software testing, can offer unique insight or expertise from prior experience to improve the platform and hardware qualification process, and be driven to deliver the highest quality products.

  • Create and execute comprehensive tests plans and test cases to ensure high quality hardware and software releases
  • Enhance the existing Platform QA test coverage through automation, new tools, and test case optimization
  • Review customer found defects to identify any testing gaps
  • Work closely with the hardware and software development teams to analyze test failures
  • Use our test execution and defect tracking systems to effectively track project and defect status
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions to explore and evaluate new proposed product offerings or enhance existing ones
Qualifications and Experience:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in test plan design and test case development for hardware/software integration projects
  • Experience with hardware/software integration testing of enterprise class hardware (server platforms, storage systems, blade systems, network switches)
  • Experience with x86 server platforms and related hardware components and standards such as storage controllers/HBAs, SSD/HDD drives, NICs, BIOS/UEFI, firmware, and IPMI
  • Working knowledge of UNIX (preferably Linux) including common systems administrator tasks and commands, troubleshooting, and some basic scripting
  • Experience using virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, or XenServer
  • Experience developing software in one of the following programming languages: Python/Perl/C/C++/Java (Python preferred)
  • Experience with file systems, block devices, flash storage, data integrity, storage/network diagnostics, and performance tools is a plus
  • Experience with Windows client and server operating systems is a plus
