Project Manager II (4367)
The National Radio Astronomy Observatory has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager at our center in Socorro, NM. The Project Manager will take a leadership role and serve as change agent to implementation all Project Management Division (PMD) standards, processes, tools, techniques, and support services at the New Mexico Site. Typical duties include managing relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients and vendors. Analyzes risks, establishes contingency plans and identifies trigger events and has the responsibility for initiating mitigating action. Determines project goals and priorities with Observatory Program Manager, project sponsors, and project leaders. Responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing assigned projects to successful completion. Provides training in Project Management and Systems Engineering to New Mexico based staff.

Job Duties Summary
- Fully implement all PMD standards, processes, tools, techniques, and support services at the New Mexico Site.
- Ensure the success of all Work for Other projects assigned to manage. This may require management of cross division/department/site projects.
- Assist Observatory Program Management Director in other tasks as assigned.
Office environment; some travel may be required.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical science, management or related field required.
At least two years experience actively leading projects. PMI CAPM (or higher) certification and INCOSE ASEP (or higher) certification required. Must have at least one certification at time of hire; the second must be obtained within six months of hire.
Two years experience in systems engineering.
- High level of competency in Microsoft software products and web-based systems, Visio and SharePoint.
