As a Career Coach at Northwest Center, you will directly support your clients as they meet the needs of their employers and simultaneously develop the skills and confidence to do their jobs effectively. While no day is the same for a Career Coach, a typical day might look something like this:

"You report to the client's job site and wait for them to arrive via Access.  You shadow your client as s/he clocks in for work, gathers supplies and gets started with the day.  If your client needs more intensive support, you may need to do some of the job tasks yourself, modeling and instructing how the work should be done.  If your client needs less support, you may only need to provide encouragement and help them to focus and stay on task.

At some point during your day, you may need to check in with your client’s employer to ensure that their needs are being met or possibly advocate for a performance review or the addition of new or different tasks for your client.  At the end of your client’s shift, you will help them locate the Access bus and perhaps catch up on your client flow notes (paperwork) or head off to your next client’s job site.

At Northwest Center, we do not just accept diversity and inclusion — we celebrate it, we support it, we live it and we flourish in it for the benefit of our employees, the community, and our clientele. It is our belief that our strength lies within our diversity and the forward motion towards a day when people of all abilities can learn and work together. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
