AS A PART-TIME MEDICAL BILLER! 

As a Medical Billing Assistant, you will be responsible for clerical and administrative tasks related to the timely and accurate processing of claims for services rendered through Northwest Center Early Intervention. As an accounting team member, you will impact Northwest Center's Vision & Mission along with enjoying a meaningful part time career opportunity utilizing your excellent clerical and administrative skills!

Location:  Seattle, WA

Wage:  $16.75- $17.50 Hourly

Schedule: Part Time – 18 hours per week

Requirements:                     

  • Ability to read, write, converse, and understand English fluently; strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic billing, internal data base and state data base.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow directions as given
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and telephone skills
  • Demonstrate ability to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision and to work independently
  • Demonstrate ability to handle the day to day stress which comes with the position, maintaining professional demeanor and acting in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate ability as a self-starter and problem solver
  • Must be customer service oriented and maintain a helpful and positive attitude
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a team member
  • Customer service orientated and sensitivity to mission of agency

Education/Certification:                         

  • High School Diploma Required
  • AA Degree preferred

Experience:                         

  • Experience in medical insurance billing, including Medicaid and private insurance preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  • Credentialing and re-credentialing medical staff when required
  • Check and verify insurance benefits
  • Stays informed regarding Insurance and Early Intervention Guidelines
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to commercial and governmental insurances
  • Answers questions from patients, staff and insurance companies
  • Follow up on denied claims and appeal when necessary
  • Prepare and send patient statements
  • Conduct regular billing audits
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
