Northwest Center’s award-winning services for children provide early intervention, inclusive early childhood education, and after school programs. Services for adults include supported employment, job training and placement. Our unique social enterprise model allows our programs to thrive through a sustainable combination of philanthropy, profits from our own inclusive businesses, donations collected by The Big Blue Truck and program revenue.

The Director, Marketing & Communications is a key member of the NWC Leadership team.  Responsibilities including creating and driving execution of an annual strategic marketing and communications in accordance with Northwest Center’s strategic plan.  Your responsibilities will require you to both “Lead” and “Do” as you focus you team on building community awareness and extending the NWC brand.    

What will you do?

  • Supervise the Marketing, Creative Services, and Communications team and associated budget.
  • Lead and inspire collaboration with all staff, program/community service leadership, and Big Blue Truck team on all outreach campaigns.
  • Manage adherence to branding and messaging standards for internal and external communications.
  • Build relationships with colleagues in professional organizations to work jointly on campaigns and identify media opportunities.
  • Manage relationships and communications projects with staff, consultants, freelancers, etc.
  • Innovate and implement a social media strategy; direct editorial, design, production and distribution of all NWC external publications and electronic and printed media
  • Communicate our mission and message through an authentic lens that complements our community services.

  • Experiencing working with an organization with strong civil rights messaging
  • Strong Executive presence
  • Leading by example and capable of dealing with ambiguity
  • Excellent persuasive writing ability, skilled at drawing out emotions from the reading audience
  • The ability to collaborate with a cross functional team
