Human Resources Business Partner

Reports to:  Chief People Officer (CPO)

Schedule:  Full-Time Monday – Friday

Location:  Seattle. WA (SLU)

Wage:  DOE Salary

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain positive relations by working with all levels of managers and supervisors
  • Counsels and advises employees and management on Human Resources benefits and programs, developmental opportunities, potential problems, career development and day-to-day inquiries on HR related matters.
  • Designs and implements employee appreciation activities
  • Facilitate onboarding orientations for newly hired employees across the organization
  • Assists with management of L&I claims by being proactive
  • Conduct regular benefit orientations for newly eligible employees
  • Assist the Benefits team by helping communicate with employees to get their questions to the right benefits team member, as well as working with employees through the accommodation process.
  • Designs and conducts training & development in areas such as employment practices, as well as specific HR-related topics to further the knowledge and understanding, and acceptance of programs and issues.
  • Researches and advises on interpretation and compliance of all local, state and federal laws to prevent litigation (EEO & etc.)
  • Manage unemployment claims and appeals
  • Develops, analyzes and provides recommendations and documentation for special project assignments for human resource matters.
  • Counsels managers and employees regarding transfers, promotions, discipline, performance, and policy interpretation and other HR related matters.
  • Addresses and reviews employee complaints and recommends Northwest Center’s response to management. Maintains proper documentation with comprehensive fact finding reports and interview notes.
  • Assists management with planning and coordinating separation process
  • Responds to federal/state/local government offices (e.g. EEOC, Unemployment, Etc) regarding charges/claims and may attend hearings as needed.
  • Conducts 90 day check-ins and exit interviews and compiles statistical reports and information. Help administer performance reviews.
  • Assists in policy/practice development, interpretation and application.
  • Performs reporting/analysis on various employee relations-related actions/issues/trends.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or related/relevant to the role field
  • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience
  • Stellar Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work with maintain confidential information
  • Problem solving and analytical experience
  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems
