We are currently looking for an Employment Consultant to work with the various school districts assisting clients in the School to Work Program transition into community based employment. The Employment Specialist will provide career development services including vocational planning, community based assessments, job development, job customization, and job placement for adults with disabilities. This position will also negotiate with employers to develop successful placement for clients and negotiate with DVR for funding levels and rates for employment services.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Participate in developing and implementing a plan for post graduation with the client and interagency team including families, teachers, DVR and DDD staff
• Facilitate transition into adult service system with the goal of placement and follow along supports or when indicated alternative programming such as Pathways to Employment services or alternative community services
• Develop a written job placement plan with the individual employment candidate and interdisciplinary team which identify specific employment outcomes, job development strategies, employment support activities, and other relevant job planning information
• Utilized customized employment strategies when appropriate to help the individual successfully move into competitive employment
• Provide transportation and mobility training to assist supported employee in getting to and from work, interviews, collecting and returning applications, and other related job search activities
• Instruct and assist individuals in resume writing, job search and interviewing techniques
• Research and follow-up employment leads in the community
• Make sales calls with the business community looking for find or create employment opportunities for the individuals we serve
• Conduct job and task analyses to determine tasks to be learned by supported employees
• Evaluate job sites for safety and document findings and recommendations
• Identify possible learning barriers and determine the most suitable training method for each task
• Assist employers in modification of job descriptions, restructuring of job duties, or work environment changes which better accommodate the job performance needs of the individual
• Provide training on-site if needed, while developing natural supports
• Maintain case record and progress reporting systems in compliance with agency standards
• Participate in all team planning sessions
• Make entries into case notes, progress reports, training logs, and goal books concerning progress on goals, vocational training, and behavior deviations
• Record and retrieve program evaluation data as requested
• Complete DVR training documentation and billing processes

• High school diploma or GED plus some college course work in the areas of marketing, vocational rehabilitation, sales or personnel, psychology, sociology preferred. BA preferred.
• Valid WA State driver's license
• Acceptable five (5) year driver's abstract
• Proof of automobile insurance
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain certification
• Previous experience working with persons with disabilities strongly preferred
• Experience with supported and customized employment methods preferred

Candidates must pass a criminal history background check and a pre-employment drug screen prior to employment.
