Summary            
          
nLIGHT is looking for a talented Operations Excellence Manager who can apply LEAN principles and provide innovative recommendations to optimize the best way to utilize people, machines, information, and energy to make kilowatt-level laser systems while employing the best methods and practices for success. 

Responsibilities       
     
  • Reports to VP, Operations
  • Helps develop and deploy Continuous Improvement Strategies throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, reducing costs and implementing continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean
  • Identifies areas for improvement and collaborates with various departments to streamline operations.
  • Applies LEAN principles to make clear recommendations to optimize the best way to utilize people, machines, information, and energy to make kilowatt-level laser systems employing best methods and practices. 
  • Develops a production capacity model for high mix production environment with frequent changes to product portfolio that considers labor, stations, equipment, and yields.
  • Assists VP of Operations to define and implement global KPI reporting metrics.
  • Collaborates with Development Engineering teams to develop layouts and material handling processes/flows for new programs/products.
  • Assists in financial planning and control systems using standard cost planning methodologies.
  • Provides support to nLIGHT's global operations including Vancouver, Camas, Hillsboro, Finland, Shanghai, and other locations as required. 
Qualifications            
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in industrial engineering is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a high-tech environment. (3+ years if Master’s degree)
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and communications skills required.
  • Capacity modeling experience for both capital equipment and labor
  • Experience with manufacturing costing systems and their development
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and implement efficiency improvements in assembly, automation, and material handling.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (line layout, material flow and assembly process development).
  • Proficient in current production methodologies and metrics (KPI’s)
  • LEAN Six Sigma certification and LEAN Six Sigma implementation experience required.  
  • Strong analytical skills using server level data pools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including macro development and data mining/manipulation tools for enhanced data value.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams.

Starting pay depends on qualifications:         
  • Operations Excellence Manager: $83,000 - $119,000
        
Other Compensation and Benefits         
  • Target Cash Bonus of 5% of your wages, [depending on level]
