Job Summary
nLIGHT is looking for a Counsel (Government Contracts), reporting to nLIGHT’s General Counsel, to support the company’s rapidly growing government contracts portfolio.  The position would provide support to both nLIGHT and nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems, working closely with the business teams of both entities. The position will be located in Camas, WA.  Remote option also would be considered.
Responsibilities include:
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise business on contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other strategic agreements with customers (US government, Primes) and suppliers or subcontractors. 
  • Identify and evaluate legal and business risks associated with contracts and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Coordinate with other subject matter experts to provide full support to business in evaluating risks and ensuring compliance on a wide variety of matters, including in areas of export control, protection of intellectual property, and cyber security.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans/recommendations to implement these changes.
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active state bar membership in good standing and ability to register as in house counsel as necessary.
  • 4 to 6 years of government contracts experience, preferably in house. 
  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARs), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Understanding of US government data rights requirements and strategies for contracting, and related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions to provide timely and effective legal advice.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a personal security clearance as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% travel time, depending on position location.

nLIGHT is proud to offer comprehensive COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting pay depends on qualifications: $150,000 to $175,000 annually
