Email Marketing Manager

 

The Email Marketing Manager is a crucial member of the Digital Membership team who will help further New York Public Radio’s digital reach and communication with listeners and members through targeted, timely, and relevant communications. Do you love all things email? Do you nerd out when thinking about email subject lines and how to make an email look beautiful when it lands on a device? Reporting to the VP of Digital Membership, the Email Marketing Manager will provide organizational thought leadership across the email channel, including implementing best practices while also developing and executing email marketing campaigns for NYPR to achieve member acquisition, retention, engagement, and revenue goals.

 

We are a small team and therefore require the ability to be self-motivated in doing this work. You will possess several years of experience in email marketing production and analytics. You are a clear communicator who will own email campaigns from start to finish and complete quality projects on time while maintaining acute attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities
  • Manage email production end-to-end (build, test, automate and deploy) for Digital membership campaigns. These emails include but are not limited to newsletters, one-off engagements, lifecycle marketing, member retention, and win-back strategies.
  • Develop and manage an internal email calendar to identify opportunities to improve the reader experience.
  • Act as a thought leader across the organization by collaborating with other teams to improve email performance and outcomes.
  • Assist in the development of training materials for new email users.
  • Identify solutions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud using automation and other tools to scale email production, deployment, and personalization.
  • Test and validate emails before sends, including but not limited to link checking, design rendering, and sign-off from stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to test, optimize, and enhance audience, timing, content and cadence to improve performance.
  • Develop and code responsive email templates for maximum cross-device compatibility and perform ongoing deliverability maintenance.
  • Leverage industry best practices and optimize performance through A/B tests.
  • Develop and distribute reports to key stakeholders on email performance and outcomes.



Qualifications
  • 3+ years of email marketing experience with demonstrated knowledge of best practices and results.
  • Understanding of email metrics, list management, and knowledge of email tools is required – Salesforce Marketing Cloud is preferred.
  • Understanding of CAN-SPAM, deliverability, and email testing tools like Email on Acid or Litmus.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics or similar analytical software
  • Basic HTML and CSS understanding to manage templates and QA – this position does not include full HTML development.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to effectively manipulate and structure data to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in any format.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver with the ability to propose solutions independently.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to define process workflows in collaboration with other teams to stay on task and on time with deadlines.

 

Additional Information
This is a full-time exempt role with a salary range of $82,500 - 103,000 per year (plus a full benefits package). Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. This Email Marketing Manager role is based in New York City and is expected to work onsite at New York Public Radio’s  SoHo headquarters at least 2 days per week.
