Merchandising Territory Manager

We are currently seeking a career-oriented individual to join News America Marketing as an entry level Field Supervisor (also known as Area Manager).

The position is field based, working from a home office, and the hired candidate will oversee field operational servicing  of our SmartSource in-store product lines in grocery, drug and mass merchandise stores.

Geography Includes:
Ashtabula County - OH, Geauga County – OH, Cuyahoga County – OH, Lorraine County – OH, Lake County – OH, and Medina County – OH

Responsibilities Include: 

Program Management: 
- Analyze workflow and deploy resources appropriately, i.e people and supplies
- Ensure effective communication from the market to the area and to their manager; including internal customers
- Ensure data and reporting integrity
- Manage flawless execution of all aspects of the program
People Management and Development: 
- Ensure area is fully staffed and operational. This includes recruiting, training, development, evaluation, planning, motivation, separation, performance management of direct reports, and supervise.
- Works with Market Manager to develop succession plan for the area
Client Management: 
- Develop and maintain front line relationships with store personnel
- Liaison with manufacturing clients in store
Financial Management: 
- Thorough, detailed knowledge of the area, establishes operating budgets for each cycle that reflect area trends, issues and store make up
- Analyzes variances and makes recommendations for continuous improvements to programs and processes
- Monitors area expenses carefully, ensuring integrity of financial processes and controls


Experience Needed:
- 2-4 years relevant experience with at least one year of supervisory experience
- Working with part-time, offsite workforce preferred
- Client and customer interface
- Recruiting at part-time level
Skill Requirements: 
- Strong program management skills with ability to successfully lead programs from inception to conclusion
- Proven ability to interact effectively with clients and customers, supervisors and direct reports
- Ability to supervise and train
- Ability to persuasively communicate ideas
- Ability to see and communicate organizational goals and philosophies and understand how their role relates to overall market goals and direction
- Ability to analyze information and recommend and implement process improvements

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand on feet for extended periods
- Certain projects may require repetitive bending, lifting and stretching
- Ability to install all SmartSource products, including: carts, shelf, freezer and Floortalk*
Non-Skill Requirements: 
- Area Managers must have a valid driver's license (for at least 2 years)
- Ability to drive during the day and night is required (up to 2-3 hours depending on home office location)
- Potential for overnight travel
