Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Triage Nurse for full-time Days   

  

The Triage Nurse will be responsible for patient triaging, the nurse phone line, assist with nurse case management, nursing assessments, collaboration with providers and other departments, and provision of quality patient care in compliance with accreditation standards. Supports patient-centered care through interaction, education, documentation, analysis and follow-up on clinical needs and concerns. Have effective communication skills, knowledge of health promotion and maintenance, ability to persuade and influence collaborative care processes and relationships. Also, will need to be able to float in the clinics when needed (Neurology, Renal, Hematology, etc.)   

  

As a Triage Nurse, you will:    

  • Evaluate and assess patient’s health care needs based on the patient’s signs and symptoms utilizing established triage protocols and guidelines 
  • Monitors and responds to triage calls in person and/or on the nurse phone line 
  • Reduce conflict and increase patient satisfaction whenever possible through timely response to calls while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent customer service 
  • Establish relationships with patients and their families through consistent communication 
  • Accurately documents symptoms/complaints, nursing assessment, advice provided and patient/caller response. Follows policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistency and departmental effectiveness as well as improve healthcare outcomes of patients/callers and their access to appropriate healthcare 

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:    

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program, Associates of Science in Nursing Required, Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred 
  • Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Tennessee, or if working on compact state license, TN license must be obtained within 30 days of hire 
  • 3 years experience as Registered Nurse, 1 year of triage experience preferred 
  • Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. CPI required within 90 days of hire.
