Description

Responsible for day-to-day assistance in coverage of patient access areas including central scheduling, pre registration, and registration and all associated activities as well as performing primary job functions. Provides assistance to staff level employees as necessary to ensure efficient and timely patient flow, compliance with department policies and procedures. Assist director with staffing, report reconciliation, QA process and other duties as assigned. Maintains a positive public relations image in all patient/visitor, medical staff and interdepartmental communications.

REQUIRED:
-High School Diploma or Equivalent
-At least 1 Year Experience in admission or registration.
-Previous experience with Admissions/Registration functions is required. ----Must be able to demonstrate verbal and written communication skills. -------Functional knowledge of personal computers and basic PC application programs including work processing and spreadsheets; database knowledge a plus.

Patient Access Duties
  • Provides coverage in all Patient Access based on the needs of the department/facility.
  • Uses proper telephone and customer service etiquette when communicating with physicians, patients, visitors, internal and external customers
  • Greets, directs, and receives patients, visitors and staff as needed in a courteous manner
  • Obtains signatures as needed for consent to treat, Advanced Directive information, Medicare Secondary Payor, and others as required.
  • Informs patient of financial liability and attempts to collect co-pays, deductibles, and self pay portions at the point of service.
  • Documents notes pertaining to the visit in the computer system as instructed or necessary.
  • Coordinates activities with other departments to facilitate the scheduling of patients for inpatient admissions and outpatient registrations.
  • Enters demographic and insurance information correctly and timely
  • Liason between the Ambulatory Care Center, Ancillary Departments, and physician offices for scheduling appointments and procedures.
