Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department for full-time Day! 
   
The Nurse Manager is a professional nurse manager who is primarily responsible for providing continual clinical and administrative direction for the Emergency Department on a 24-hour basis. The Nurse Manager is also responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the patient care unit, as well as the evaluation of the delivery of care.
As a Nurse Manager, you will: 
  • Effectively interacts with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care 
  • Supervision of patient care - maintains/evaluates the effectiveness of the patient care delivery system on any given shift 
  • Working with the medical staff, triages patients awaiting beds to assure most critical needs are met first 
  • Effectively responds to crisis/emergency situations, to include responding to all 'codes' in a timely manner, and directs staff to prevent patient deterioration by early intervention 
  • Thoroughly investigates complaints from patients, visitors, physicians, ancillary departments and makes the appropriate interaction, acting as liaison between administration, doctors, nurses and visitors. Documents according to policy. 
  • Monitors observation patients and follows-up with case manager to secure appropriate status at intervals defined by the Director and as needed. 
  • Identifies, trends and reports barriers on patient throughput; recommends process improvements 
  • Communicates with payers to assure financial certification requirements are met
  • Oversees incoming referrals and referral conversion rates, driving improvement to client access to treatment and ease of registration process
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:  
  • Associates degree in Nursing required, Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred 
  • Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee 
  • Minimum of 2 years of Clinical experience within the Emergency Department required 
  • At least 1 year of management experience required, within the Emergency Department setting preferred 
  • BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC certifications required before hire
