Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Hybrid Professional & Facility Coding Manager for full-time Day!
  
We are seeking an experienced Professional and Facility Coding Manager for a hybrid role with 25% of the time spent in the office. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in medical coding for both professional and facility services, coupled with strong leadership skills. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while also providing opportunities for in person collaboration and team management.
 
As a Professional & Facility Coding Manager, you will: 
  • Lead and manage coding operations for both professional and facility services, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high standards, accuracy, compliance, and optimization of revenue capture.
  • Oversee the accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes for professional services (e.g., evaluation and management, surgical procedures) and facility services (e.g., inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory surgery).
  • Develop and implement coding policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, coding guidelines, and payer-specific rules.
  • Review and analyze bill edits generated by billing software or clearinghouses, identifying coding-related discrepancies, errors, and denials.
  • Conduct regular audits of coding accuracy and compliance, identifying areas of improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinicians, billing specialists, and other stakeholders to resolve coding-related issues and optimize revenue cycle processes.
  • Monitor coding- related key performance indicators (KPI) and metrics, analyzing trends and variances to identify opportunities for enhancements and optimization.
  • Serve as a resource and SME on coding-related matters, providing training, education, and support to coding staff and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of coding team members, as well as conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Collaborate with IT and revenue cycle management teams to ensure the effective integration of coding systems, software, and technologies to support coding operations and revenue cycle workflows.
Required Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Associates Degree in Health Information management and/or Bachelors’ Degree in Health Information Management preferred
  • Must possess coding certification from AAPC/AHIMA
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a coding leadership role in an acute care, academic teaching facility or corporate office required (5 years preferred)
