Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Nurse Manager (RN) for Cardiac/Telemetry in Nashville, TN.    
   
The Nurse Manager (RN) is a professional who is primarily responsible for providing continual clinical and administrative direction for a specific patient care unit on a 24-hour basis. The Nurse Manager is also responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures for the patient care unit, as well as the evaluation of the delivery of care.   
   
Nurse Manager (RN) Responsibilities:    
  • Effectively resolves delays and conflict in an effort to expedite bed assignment
  • Identifies, trends and reports barriers on patient throughput; recommends process improvements
  • Communicates with payers to assure financial certification requirements are met
  • Accepts and processes all requests for room assignments timely and appropriately
  • Working with the medical staff, triages patients awaiting beds to assure most critical needs are met first
  • Assures patients with communicable disease are accommodated with appropriate bed assignments
  • Visits all patient care units on at least twice per shift to ascertain condition of patients, evaluate staffing needs and provide support to caregivers.
  • Identifies complex patient needs and/or management situations and takes appropriate action to include involvement/hands care.
  • Assists staff to insure delivery of efficient quality nursing care to include performing direct patient care when necessary, to include making decisions using sound nursing/management judgment exhibiting critical thinking skills.
  • Effectively coordinates the transfer of patients within hospital and/or to other institutions as necessary and assigns all admissions to appropriate rooms based on needs, infection control and availability of resources to include consideration of staff competencies. May in some cases be required to assist with physical patient transport as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:    
  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Program
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HealthCare Administration, Management, or Nursing required, Masters preferred
  • Current licensure or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state
  • BLS and ACLS Required
  • 3 years of clinical experience working in critical care/cardiac preferred
