Patient Access Rep - POOL
Description
The Patient Access Services Representative provides a range of intake and associated administrative services pertaining to patients being admitted to the hospital and/or treatment facility or receiving outpatient services to include obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information; collecting co-pays and deposits; scheduling follow-up appointments; and ordering diagnostic tests as directed.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma (Equivalent)
Associates Degree (Preferred)
Certification & Licensures

Job Duties
- Facilitate patient and information flow by directing patients to correct locations, answering incoming telephone calls, and providing administrative support.
- Provide accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities as directed.
- Verify patient insurance, identifies issues, and participates in process improvement initiatives.
- Collect self-pay balances for hospital and clinic patients while providing exceptional customer service.
- Handle outgoing and incoming calls, correspondence, as well as face to face communications with patients.
- Assess the patient's ability to pay.
- Establishing payment arrangements.
- Provide patients with Nashville General Hospital’s financial assistance program information.
- Assist patients with applications for government programs (Medicaid).
- Follow-up to facilitate prompt and accurate resolution of outstanding balances.
