Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Chemotherapy as a full-time RN. Day shift available (8:00am-4:30pm).
The Registered Nurse delivers care for patients across their life span, and through the use of the nursing process, assesses and documents the effects of care. Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, medical and other team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.  
Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities:   
  • Prepare patients for the physician/practitioner visit by assessing patient history for medical and surgical problems, patient medications, pain level, risk factors, current complaint and other needs to include physician psychosocial, emotional and educational as appropriate. Evaluate patient status and make recommendations based on assessment. Document assessment per clinic policy.
  • Safely perform and correctly document nursing interventions consistent with hospital and clinic policies. Assists physicians/ practitioners as needed. Communicate pertinent information to patients/families regarding their care and/or procedures.
  • Evaluate and document the patient's response to interventions and procedures. Give accurate and timely reports to staff members when patient handoff is needed due to patient transfer, transfer to ED or admission.
  • Administer medications and monitor response. Assist with medication refills and patient requests. Use clinic equipment appropriately. Report concerns regarding patient status or test results to physician.
  • Participate in providing information related to health prevention, health maintenance, and health restoration. Consider patient cultural/religious practices, learning needs, emotional barriers, physical and cognitive limitations, language and level of understanding, documents, education provided and patient response. Refer patients to available educational programs as available.
  • Participate in data gathering and other quality assessment/ improvement activities. Work with co-workers to assure departmental compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements. Provide input into performance improvement activities to assist department in efforts to improve departmental processes. Is receptive to change and growth. Meet deadlines in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:   
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree program in Nursing.
  • Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. CPI required within 90 days of hire.  
  • 1 year experience as Registered Nurse required
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred; Chemotherapy and Biologic Therapy Certification preferred
