Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Clinical Risk Manager/Patient Safety Officer (RN) for Full-time Day!
Under the leadership of the Quality Director, the Clinical Risk Manager/Patient Safety Officer RN is responsible for facilitating the transition from a retrospective, reactive model of risk management to a prospective, proactive harm reducing patient safety program consistent with a high reliability organization. This position assumes direct responsibility for incident investigation and identification/management of areas considered to be risk management liabilities.
As a Clinical Risk Manager/Patient Safety Officer (RN), you will:
- Coordinate the risk management program to meet the needs of the institution.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis investigations, which include assessing the need for focused review by departments, and/or clinical chairpersons for peer reviews.
- Perform investigations of potentially reportable incident (s) to the Tennessee Department of Health.
- Identify organizational risk through trend analysis of incidents, incident letters, reports etc.
- Review and analyze all occurrence reports for Risk Management, quality of care, regulatory and insurance concerns.
- Interface with external insurance representatives to assist with potential claims as well as cases of concern by preparation of preliminary reports, and determination of priority of investigation given risk management assessment
- Active participation on committees directed toward promoting quality of care and with availability to attend other Committee meetings as well as Mortality and Morbidity conferences.
- Assists in developing educational programs to raise staff awareness to risk exposure and the impact on professional liability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program required. Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program preferably in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or a related field
- Certification in Quality (CPHQ), Patient Safety (CPPS), or Healthcare Clinical Risk Management (CPHRM) required within 18 months of hire and remains active throughout employment
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical risk management experience in an acute care hospital setting as a RN
- Current license to practice in the state of Tennessee as a Registered Nurse
