Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purification of a wide variety of cardiac muscle proteins using various chromatographic techniques
  • Carry out multiple experiments in parallel and keep detailed, meticulous notes
  • Collaborate with colleagues and team members to provide robust quality control data
  • Prepare stocks and other reagents; manage and maintain lab inventories
  • Analyze and report experimental results, both in daily updates, regular database inputs, and in final reports
  • Execute day-to-day laboratory activities with some supervision
  • Present findings to the group and company occasionally
  • Execute all methods and techniques required to purify soluble and secreted proteins including the ”íKTA PURE FPLC platform, SDS-PAGE, TFF, microfluidizer, plate-based assays, spectrophotometry, and HPLC

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: 

Education:

  • Requires a BS in biochemistry, molecular biology or related field

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 0-2 years’ of applicable industry experience

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Laboratory skills in protein purification for a variety of proteins and expression cell types
  • Understanding of protein biochemistry, recombinant and protein characterizations highly desirable
  • Protein purification experience especially with the AKTA platform and Bio-Rad chromatography systems and ability to troubleshoot
  • Experience with protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blot, SEC-HPLC, DSF, RP-HPLC a plus
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present results at project team or other meetings
