Summary:
The Regional Coding Operations Coordinator (RCOC) plays a crucial role supporting the daily operational needs of the Revenue Cycle.  The RCOC provides expertise to staff across the Munson Healthcare system to assist with accurate charge entry, system access, coding assignments, and provider training. Serves as a resource for both clinical and financial management, coding and charge entry staff, providers, and internal audit to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding and charge entry processes.   
  
Responsible for daily monitoring of coding work queues, including reassigning workloads as needed.  Coordinates work assignments and manages schedules for the coding and charge entry team.  Identifies workflow issues and troubleshoots to meet Discharged Not Final Billed goals. Maintains Ingenious Med, including maintaining a current list of providers, updating CPT codes in the system, training providers, running reports, and helping with access issues.  
  
Acts as the departmental liaison to the activities in the coding reimbursement process.  
The RCOC works closely with the CBO coding educators, billing coordinators, account resolution, posting, system coordinator, internal audit, and various clinical department managers and providers.  There is direct contact with other hospitals/facilities to assist with coding and charge capture concerns.  Has constant contact with Business Office staff to resolve billing issues.  
 
 
What’s Required: 
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management, Applied Science or related healthcare field is required. An associate degree in Health Information Management, Applied Science or related field with a minimum of 3 years coding experience or CPC with 5 years of coding experience will be considered.
  • CPC is required within 18 months of hire.
  • Requires a minimum of three years coding experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Previous experience in educating, evaluating and communicating the results of Coders’ productivity and quality is required.  
  • In-depth knowledge of National and Local Coverage Determinations, ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems is required.
