BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Install, maintain and repair the buildings structures of the Mohonk Mountain House. The carpenter will be responsible to assist in the construction of both new and renovation projects of the Mountain House; the carpenter will have a rounded out expertise in various aspects of the building trades, from rough to finish work.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Install rough carpentry, framing and concrete formwork.
  • Install light gauge metal framing.
  • Install finish carpentry, including door and window trim, running trim cabinetry.
  • Countertop fabrication and installation.
  • Install plastic laminates.
  • Install fiberglass reinforced paneling and wood paneling.
  • Install and repair wood, laminate and vinyl (sheet and composite tile) flooring
  • Install and repair ceramic tile floors and wood.
  • Install and repair commercial and residential doors and windows; hollow metal, wood, fiberglass, vinyl, etc.
  • Install and repair commercial and residential door hardware, hinges, knobs, locksets, closers, panic devises, weather stripping, and thresholds.
  • Install and repair cabinet hardware, hinges, knobs, latches, and locks.
  • Fabricate and install shelving units and cabinet projects.
  • Install and repair asphalt roofing, metal roofing, flashings and accessories.
  • Install and repair exterior siding, including wood, cement board, vinyl and aluminum.
  • Install and repair exterior wood, vinyl, and aluminum siding and trim.
  • Install and repair masonry units.
  • Install and repair concrete floors, walls, sidewalks and drives.
  • Install and repair acoustical ceilings, including glue on and suspended.
  • Install and repair gypsum wall board; including taping and finishing to a level 3 quality.
  • Brush and roller painting of walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, doors and windows.
  • Educate co-workers on system's operation to assist in maintaining a smoothly operating plant.
  • Perform visual inspections.
  • Learn and utilize new methods, materials and procedures and systems.
  • Care for and maintain all tools and equipment provided by Mohonk Mountain House.
  • Supply basic, personal hand tools such as tool pouch, hammer, assorted screwdrivers, hex keys, 6” and 8” adjustable wrenches, needle nose pliers, line mans pliers, measuring tape, knife, torpedo, 24” and 48” levels, speed or combination square, chalk line, hand saw, hack saw, drywall saw, taping knives, concrete and masonry trowels and floats, knee pads, battery operated drill and driver.
  • Hand excavate, bed, place, backfill and final grade for underground electrical utilities.
  • Comply with OSHA and Mohonk Mountain House Lockout, Tag Out procedures.
  • Safely use all types of power and hand tools of the carpentry and masonry trades, including power saws, drills, routers, chipping hammers, shop tools.
  • Attend and pass a sixteen hour O & M Asbestos training session.               
  • Work in a manner that will not endanger self or others.
  • Adhere to all of Mohonk Mountain House safety and security regulations.
  • Inspect the work of others by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards.
  • Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House Confined Entry requirements.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task being performed.
  • Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
  • Learn and successfully demonstrate the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies with guests and staff.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Adjust schedule to meet the demands of the operation. Ability to work on short notice to effect emergency repairs 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
  • Work on scaffolding, ladders, man lifts, aerial lifts at heights up to 80 feet.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to waist level and carry a distance of up to 30 feet with/ without assistance.  Walk up to 5 miles per day.
  • Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
  • Maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 200 pounds up and down stairs, elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 75 feet.
  • Use two hands to lift, carry, examine and manipulate objects.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a safe, legal manner.
  • Suggest and recommend possible projects to management for future capital budgets.
  • Clearly communicate results of efforts, problem resolution steps and completed tasks verbally and in writing.
  • Speak, read and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors and employees.  Hear verbal instructions, directions and warnings.
  • Write concisely and legibly.
  • See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Minimum three (3) years of field experience in the carpentry trade at the Journeyman level.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum 18 years old.
