Description

Position Purpose

The Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical and instrumentation assets at the plant. The role leads maintenance teams, coordinates closely with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and Global teams, and implements maintenance strategies that optimize asset reliability, minimize downtime, and deliver departmental KPIs while ensuring full compliance with safety and Responsible Care requirements.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement electrical and instrumentation maintenance strategies aligned with OEM recommendations, codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead, supervise, and coach E&I Engineers and contractors to ensure safe, high-quality execution of maintenance activities.
  • Oversee preventive, corrective, predictive, and performance monitoring programs for all E&I systems.
  • Ensure achievement of maintenance KPIs, including PM compliance, backlog control, schedule compliance, and MTBF/MTTR improvement.
  • Drive reduction of unplanned downtime and continuous improvement of equipment reliability.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety rules, PPE requirements, work permit systems, and Responsible Care initiatives.
  • Manage contractors and service providers, ensuring competency, compliance, and performance standards are met.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance records and documentation within CMMS (MAXIMO).
  • Manage spare parts strategy, inventory levels, technical evaluations, and procurement support to optimize cost and availability.
  • Lead RCA/RCFA investigations and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
  • Plan and execute shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance activities within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, Procurement, and vendors.
