Provides massages to a variety of departments within the hospital and outpatient settings, completing charting and case coordination with other health care professionals and physicians. Offers limited evening and weekend on call coverage for inpatient massage needs.

Education
Minimum High school diploma; Graduate of a 500 hour massage program (CMT).
Preferred 1000 hours of education in massage therapy; college degree. Credentials/Licensure
Minimum Licensed massage therapist.
Preferred Member of AMTA, AMMA or AMBT
Related Experience
Minimum Two years of experience in providing massage therapy.
Preferred Experience in program development and public speaking. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interface with physicians. Knowledge of advanced massage therapy techniques.
Preferred Knowledge of pathology of chronic pain and advanced knowledge of massage therapy techniques. Computer Competency
Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions. Physical/Mental
Minimum: Travel throughout the hospital frequently and to appropriate clinical site constantly. Frequent standing and walking constantly, bending frequently and lifting occasionally. Ability to perform assessments of clients needs and to develop timely plans of action constantly. Ability to function in a collaborative manner as well as directed one-to-one constantly. Ability to distinguish sounds and overhead pages occasionally. Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs. Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe Patient Movement Policy.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides massage therapy and education to a variety of patients completing all paperwork, assessments and treatment plan in a complete and timely manner.
  • Provides educational programs, workshops and in-services for staff of Saint Mary's on the nature of massage therapy as well as other modalities, its uses, appropriate referrals, and expected outcomes.
  • Meets the increasingly urgent need to demonstrate that the intervention offered is both effective and efficient in a competitive market.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and assists in, ensuring compliance with accreditation, certification and government standards relative to massage therapy.
  • Designs and implements plans and procedures to enhance quality, effectiveness and efficiency of department.
  • Communicates effectively and completely with the Institute team, identifies, problems, offers solutions & participates in resolution.
  • Shares relevant information with others as appropriate.
  • Commits to grow professionally and to partake in continuing education.
