Registered Nurse, RN (Open Heart) Clinical Supervisor

What you will need:
- Open heart and leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN strongly preferred for this leadership role.
- RN licensure in the State of Michigan required, and in good standing.
- 3 years clinical nursing experience, acute experience preferred.
- Must have experience in open heart surgery and leadership experience.
- Certified PeriOperative Nurse (CNOR) preferred.
- BCLS certification, ACLS strongly preferred.
- Demonstrate ability and skill in the management of organizational change and continuous quality improvement processes. Evidence of creative and innovative approaches to achieving outcomes. Ability to facilitate staff development through appropriate coaching, mentoring, and counseling. Ability to work in an environment that promotes accountability, subsidiary and collegiality.
What you will do:
1. Develops master plans (with manager/staff input) for areas of responsibility that support mission and strategic plan of the organization.
2. Develops budgets for area/s of responsibility and monitors expenditures and effective utilization of financial resources.
3. Identifies unit staff needs and allocates appropriate nursing staff on a daily basis consistent with department standards and cost center accountability.
4. Develops and implements performance standards. Promotes continuous improvement through innovation and work redesign. Completes PPE's as scheduled.
5. Provides information to management regarding resource needs.
6. Assures unit practices are monitored. Ensures adherence to accrediting and regulatory standards of patient care. Review/revise unit specific policies and procedures/ standards/ protocols yearly.
7. Facilitates orientation and in-service needs of staff are met. Develops/implements competency plans for each category of staff on a yearly basis. Complete own competencies.
8. Recommends and/or takes necessary action for staff transfer, promotion, disciplinary action, including termination.
9. Communicates with subordinates, peers and supervisor on a regular basis to ensure continuity of patient care.
10. Maintains safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and staff by early identification of high-risk situation, environmental deficiencies, and needed safety improvements. Rectifies deficiencies in a timely manner
11. Demonstrates and ability to interact professionally and effectively with team members to ensure a collaborative plan of services.
