Operations Specialist / Sales Assistant
Reports To: Georgia Regional Manager / Pre Media


Position Summary

The position is responsible for working with all sales and support teams within the McClatchy Georgia regional advertising division and LEAD Digital to produce maximum efficiency of customer service, campaign fulfillment and revenue generation.  This person is responsible for assisting with the coordination of numerous projects to include ad production, campaign optimization, proposal preparation and other duties as assigned. The position must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgement, have a sense of urgency, be flexible and enjoy a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the successful scheduling and fulfillment of Print & Digital advertising solutions as needed by the advertising sales team.
  • Assists sales team with keeping accurate file records of customers and subsequent contracts and helps manage the ticket process.
  • Helps perform prospect research to identify digital and direct marketing prospects.
  • Maintain Google calendars and Google Drive folder for sales team to maintain accuracy and up-to-date information
  • Manager overflow of pagination duties and all other legacy print duties as assigned
  • Helps to design and proof ad copy (both print and digital) on behalf of sales team with the goal of creating maximum ROI for the customer.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions to meet customer satisfaction and comply with business needs.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to request for service and assistance.
  • Works closely with the all advertising management to develop new sales support strategies and optimize workflows.
  • Research customer billing invoices for payment issues and/or payment history.
  • Maintain Google calendars and Google Drive folder for sales team to maintain accuracy and up-to date information.
  • Maintain proper and professional representation of LE Advertising Division when dealing with the public.
  • Attend all required company and departmental meetings.
  • Carry out all assignments as deemed necessary by the management and administration of the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, as well as adhere to all policies and procedures of the same.

Education and/or Experience                                                                    

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                                                                 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                                       

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                              

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have average or intermediate of computer skills. Proficient in Google apps, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, Internet and Intranet applications, and Adobe Acrobat.  Able to demonstrate proficiency in current programs used by department.                                                        

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Maintains a valid driver's license.  Must provide means of personal transportation for use during work hours.
