Job Title:Packaging Distribution Inserter

Department:     Production/Mailroom

Reports To:     Packaging Distribution Supervisor

FLSA Status:     Nonexempt

SUMMARY

Inserts advertising supplements, comic sections and Sunday Magazine sections into newspaper before distribution to customers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Prepares inserts and places them into inserting machine.

 

Stacks inserted papers onto skids.

 

Places papers onto trimmer.

 

Stacks and straightens bundles off trimmer and counterveyor.  Places them on skids.

 

Sorts paper from the reject bin.

 

Manually transfers inserts to individuals to be placed into inserting machine.

 

Performs manual inserting when required.

 

Places labels on papers to be bagged and mailed.

 

Loads mail bags into trucks.

 

Counts papers and prepares them for distribution.

 

Ties bundles and wraps skids.

 

Cleans and picks up debris as needed throughout the run and at the end of each shift.

 

Other duties as assigned.  Duties are subject to change.  The duties listed are general and duties may be rotated as needed per shift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Ability to see and read route numbers on labels.
