Retail Coordinator - Single Copy Sales

Position at The State

The Retail Coordinator has local responsibility for supporting single copy and digital single copy audience growth and revenue at their property.  This includes but is not limited to:

  • Newspaper retail sales locations
  • News rack locations
  • Business traveler
  • Retail and business
  • Hawking
  • Retail partnership programs
  • Digital single copy
  • Commemorative sections/special days
  • Additional revenue product sales

Merchandises retail accounts, builds relationships with retailers, ensures proper marketing materials and point-of-sale materials are in market.  Coordinates field marketing efforts to include but not limited to: 

  • Resolves customer issues in a time manner
  • Coordinate independent contractor force and distributors 
  • Coordinate the distribution of all single copy and third party newspapers
  • Execute successful co-promotions with retail outlets
  • Increase sales and number of permanent high traffic locations
  • Solicit and secure new sales outlets
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on racks
  • Replace racks that cannot be repaired
High school diploma and 2-3 years of field marketing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Sales experience preferred.  Ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined with ability to work collaboratively; remaining courteous and professional in all dealings with customers, management and staff.  Job requires concise and effective verbal communication skills and ability to travel as required. 

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Physical demands include:

  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds
  • Keyboarding and use of mouse (manual dexterity)
  • Requires stationary work/sitting
  • Use of near, mid-range and far vision
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching
